Mr. Bowie with a Knife
J. R. Edmondson, the author of this pamphlet, is recognized as an authority on Jim Bowie and the Alamo. He has written numerous articles for magazines such as Blade Magazine, Blackpowder and Knife World as well as articles for the Fort Worth Press.
Edmondson also has portrayed Bowie in three documentaries for the History Channel, two documentaries for the Discovery Channel, and an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
As a "living historian," Edmondson combines his dramatic talents with his historical knowledge to portray such prominent historical figures as Colonel James Bowie and General Sam Houston. Edmondson has performed for hundreds of classrooms and historical organizations and seminars across Texas.
In this pamphlet Edmondson explains how the sandbar fight came to be. He goes into detail about the fight and gives good background on all the individuals involved in the duel on a Mississippi River sandbar, which was to make Jim Bowie and his personal knife a legend.
